WEEDS? WHAT WEEDS?

My lawn is just  'dandy' (lion)!

So we can all agree we hate to pull weeds. Who has time? It is FOOTBALL season!  But we all can also agree that having weeds in dormant brown grass looks crass. Do your neighbors roll their eyes at the carpet of purple flowers in your yard come early spring? Do you lower your head and mumble I meant for that to happen because I don’t like a brown lawn?  Do you look at your neighbor’s pristine beautiful weed free lawn and feel somehow lacking in the domestic bastion of lawn maintenance? Fear not! Suffer no more from lawn envy.  I am gonna make your day brighter. With a little information and effort on your part you can become the landscaping king/queen. I see ‘Yard of the Month’ in your future. OK are you ready for the BIG SECRET to no more weeds?  Go out and buy some pre-emergent today. Put down your pre-emergent with a target date between now and September 15th.  You got this! Read the label carefully for your type of grass and use the recommended dosage. Please, please read the label carefully.  I saw a huge lawn, deader than Osama, with a heart broken teary-eyed weekend warrior out standing in his field of nightmare   because…he didn’t read the label! Pre-emergent  stops the germinating process before the weed can set roots.  POST emergent weed killer (like weed-b-gone) kills the living weed. Learn the difference by READING the label. Next week we will go into some of the different types of weed killer, and maybe some of the challenges of killing specific winter weeds.  But for now if you need more information on what to look for, give me a shout out and I will be happy to help. Now go forth and prosper Lawn King/Queen!

You CAN do it!

Hi! So I have been stressed out trying to come up with an awesome 'first' entry on this blog as I work my way through how this stuff all works. Then I made the realization that probably no  one would be actually reading it! But the 'what do I want this space to be' and how to develop a personality for it is worse than giving birth to a baby. Because I control the characteristics of this 'baby'. It can be fun, or dry or whimiscal...sighs...maybe I will take the baby birth thing to heart and let this blog determine who it is and what it wants to be when it grows up! Anyway I wanted to get my feet wet (anyone remember the birth in a pod thing that was popular a few years ago?)
